On the colour card it looks like a simple grey‑beige — nothing flashy — but on furniture it becomes the most elegant, versatile cool neutral. Inspired by aged linen, it has that soft, lived‑in European feel that works in almost any interior style.

How French Linen Works in Real Homes

French Linen is my most‑used colour over the years, simply because it adapts to absolutely everything. On its own, it creates a gentle, understated finish that feels calm and refined. Used as a wash over raw timber, it gives that gorgeous bleached‑wood look — perfect for coastal, rustic, or Scandinavian styling.

It’s also a dream for layering. When paired with Old White and Svenska Blue, it creates a worn, sea‑bleached coastal finish. Layered with Black Wax and a touch of gold on carved details, it transforms into an old‑world French chateau look. And mixed with Clear Wax, it becomes a soft, aged wax that gently warms the surface without darkening it.

French Linen is incredibly responsive to wax. White Wax gives a coastal, sun‑washed feel; Black Wax adds Parisian depth and drama; Brown Wax creates an aged, antique warmth.
